Benalla West Estate
Right across Victoria the State Government is regenerating ageing public housing. Funding of $30 million has been allocated to renew regional public housing, with $10 million committed to refreshing and revitalising the Benalla West Estate.
As our communities grow, our public housing needs change and evolve too. The Victorian Government is listening to, and working with, the local community to understand the best way of supporting these changing needs.
The current design of the estate involving its housing, parks, pathways and roads could be improved to meet the changing needs of the community. Broader community benefits will be derived through enhancing the estate’s connectivity with neighbouring residential areas and improving public spaces.
How we will work with the community
The first phase of the Benalla West public housing upgrade will involve consultations with the community and stakeholders. These meetings will be a chance for residents to talk about what they value about the local area and what improvements they believe should be made. These ideas will then shape a masterplan for the project and uncover the various ways the government and local community can work together. Throughout the estate’s renewal the local community will be able to stay involved and offer continuous feedback on the project developments as they happen.
