New Footscray Hospital

The Victorian Government is investing up to $1.5 billion to deliver the new Footscray Hospital. This flagship investment will meet the changing and growing health needs of Melbourne’s west, which is expected to see a 60 per cent growth in population over the next 20 years.

Building a bigger and more modern Footscray Hospital will cut waiting times and take pressure off other nearby hospitals. With an increase of nearly 200 beds (compared to the existing hospital), the new Footscray Hospital will treat almost 15,000 additional patients and enable almost 20,000 additional people to be seen by the emergency department each year.

A community consultative committee (CCC) has been established to give the local community the opportunity to participate in the development of the new hospital.

The new Footscray Hospital is being delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority, in partnership with Western Health.
