The Regional Health Infrastructure Fund provides upgrades for rural and regional public health services so that all Victorians have access to the quality health care and facilities they need, no matter where they live.
Established in 2016, the fund provides grants to eligible public health services to expand capacity, improve safety, quality and efficiency and deliver better care to patients.
The 2019-20 Victorian State Budget added an extra $100m in funding, taking the total value of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund to $350 million. This year’s funding also includes $10 million for eligible public sector residential aged care services.
The $350 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is a grant program funded by the Victorian Government to assist regional and rural public health and public sector residential aged care services to improve:

buildability.
All Victorian regional public health services, local and small rural health services, public residential aged care services, registered community health services, bush nursing hospitals and centres, women’s health services and Aboriginal community run health organisations are eligible for grant funding.
The Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest grant program of its kind in Victorian history. Grants assist rural and regional public health and public sector residential aged care services to ensure Victorians, regardless of where they live, have access to quality health care when they need it most.
This means health services can treat more patients quicker, and our hardworking doctors and nurses have the modern and safe working environments they deserve.
It also helps make public health and public sector residential aged care services more efficient, improve models of care, and increase their capacity to provide high quality healthcare as Victoria continues to grow.
