Ascot Vale Estate

The Ascot Vale Estate is 4.5 kilometres from the CBD in the municipality of Moonee Valley. The estate is approximately 17 hectares in size and currently contains 842 dwellings. The buildings on the site, known as 'walk-ups' were built between 1947 and 1955 and no longer suit the needs of many residents. The Ascot Vale Estate is one of eleven projects identified to be renewed in Stage One of the Public Housing Renewal Program

Based on feedback received in consultations held in 2017, we’re taking a staged approach to the redevelopment of the estate to ensure that we can deliver the best outcomes for residents and the broader community.

The Department of Health and Human Services has identified the land at 24-42 Dunlop Avenue to be redeveloped as Stage One. Consultation Stage One commenced in December 2017.

The renewal of the remaining 15 hectares of the Ascot Vale Estate is more complex than Stage 1 and will take place over a longer period of time. A masterplanning process will commence shortly, which will include extensive engagement with residents, neighbours, Council and other stakeholders. This masterplan will guide built form, road layouts, open space and other community facilities.
