Orygen Youth Health intensive care area upgrade

Location 35 Mavis Street, Footscray, Victoria, 3011, Australia

The Victorian Government is investing $6 million to upgrade the Orygen Youth Health intensive care area. The project aims to ensure that young people with an acute mental illness can access care faster and closer to home and support networks.

The upgrade will include four new inpatient beds, delivering expanded and enhanced living, private and treatment spaces, better suited to young people’s needs.

Once complete, the upgraded intensive care area will enhance Orygen Youth Health’s capacity to provide safe and appropriate clinical treatment options to address the range of mental health issues.

The $6 million upgrade will deliver:

  • four new inpatient beds
  • bigger, safer and more comfortable living and treatment spaces.

The Orygen Youth Health intensive care upgrade aims to reduce the risk of harm and improve mental health among Orygen Youth Health clients with acute mental illness, due to more timely access to treatment and care.

This project is being delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority in partnership with:

  • Western Health
  • North Western Mental Health
  • Orygen Youth Health
  • Bamford Architects
  • Plan Group (builder).
