Consortia shortlisted to deliver new Footscray Hospital

16 October 2019

The Victorian Government is pleased to announce it has now shortlisted three consortia to deliver a new hospital for Footscray.

The new Footscray Hospital represents the largest health infrastructure investment in the state, with the Victorian Government providing up to $1.5 billion for the project.

The hospital will be delivered as a public private partnership, which involves bringing together a private consortium to design, construct, finance and maintain the new facility over a period of 25 years.

The shortlisted consortia are:

  • Advance West comprising: Tetris Capital, John Holland, John Holland Services and ISS.
  • Exemplar Health comprising: Capella capital, Lendlease and Spotless.
  • Plenary Health comprising: Plenary Group, Multiplex, Honeywell and Compass.

These consortia were selected following the release of the Invitation for Expression of Interest that attracted a strong response from the market.

The Request for Proposal will be formally released in November 2019, at which point shortlisted consortia will prepare comprehensive proposals. A preferred consortium will be selected in 2020.

Construction is scheduled to commence in late-2020, with the new Footscray Hospital expected to open its doors in 2025.

The new Footscray Hospital will be built on the corner of Geelong and Ballarat roads. This project is being delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority in partnership with Western Health.
