Expressions of interest open for Wonthaggi Hospital expansion

07 May 2020

Expressions of interest are now open to appoint a builder for main works on the Wonthaggi Hospital expansion, set to kick off from late 2020.

By 2031, the Bass Coast Shire population is expected to grow by an extra 55 per cent, making the region one of the highest growth areas in regional Victoria.

The expansion will provide:

  • 18 additional treatment spaces
  • 3 new operating theatres
  • a procedure room
  • a 32-bed inpatient ward.

A bigger and better emergency department will also allow an extra 26,000 emergency department patients to be treated each year.

Due to be completed in 2023, the redevelopment will meet the community’s growing needs and provide Bass Coast and South Gippsland communities with expanded services and world-class care.
