Goulburn Valley Health's Waranga Health campus opens

10 December 2019

The newly upgraded Goulburn Valley Health’s Waranga Health campus in Rushworth opened today.

The $10 million redevelopment, located on High Street, has integrated various services under one roof. This means regional patients will receive world-class care – in one spot.

Before redevelopment, Waranga Health was split over two sites – the Waranga Aged Care Hostel and the Waranga Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.

Residents from the Waranga Memorial Hospital have been relocated to the new development which features 36 residential aged care beds, four acute beds and end of life facilities.

The upgrades have transformed the hostel into a one-stop-shop for all of Rushworth’s acute care, aged care, primary care and community health services.

The state-of-the-art facility includes:

  • new offices
  • administration
  • reception
  • storage
  • consulting and activity areas
  • a new dining room
  • laundry facilities
  • outdoor area with BBQ.

A new front entrance allows for easier access for patients, staff and visitors. Combining services on one site will save money on IT, maintenance and other services.

Funding regional health infrastructure

The Victorian Government funded the project as part of its $350 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund. The fund is the largest of its kind in Victorian history. Over the past three years, it has funded 284 projects across regional Victoria.

The Regional Health Infrastructure Fund delivers vital upgrades to regional and rural health and aged care services. This ensures all Victorian can access the quality care and facilities they need – wherever they live.
