Milestone sod turn for Creswick Nursing Home redevelopment

25 October 2019

Construction has begun on the major upgrade of Creswick Nursing Home.

The $3.2 million project will create a new 12-bed unit designed to cater for residents with dementia.

Based on best-practice design for dementia-specific care, the new unit will feature:

  • private rooms with ensuites
  • social spaces built around a central courtyard
  • access to gardens and landscaped areas.

The unit will provide a safe, home-like environment adaptable to individual residents’ needs.

The upgrade will also deliver improvements to the existing space. These include a consolidation of common areas, and upgrades to heating and cooling systems.

Made possible by funding from the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the project will support the creation of three new jobs, and is expected to be completed in 2020.

Funding regional health infrastructure

The $350 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest of its kind in Victorian history. It provides funding to improve health services in rural and regional Victoria, ensuring all Victorians can access high quality care and facilities no matter where they live.
