New aged care wing opens at Golden Oaks Nursing Home in Bendigo

A new 15 bed residential aged care wing has opened at the Golden Oaks Nursing Home in Bendigo.

Officially opening the wing was Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards.

The $4.9 million redevelopment will allow most current residents to move to private rooms, increasing privacy and independence.

Existing bedrooms were also revamped, adding ensuites and new beds. Upgrades to the kitchen, serving area and dining room means fresh meals can be cooked on site and enjoyed in a welcoming space.

The opening marks the completion of stage three of the Victorian Government’s investment into Bendigo Health's Golden Square aged-care precinct.

Stages one and two constructed a link between Golden Oaks Nursing Home and Carshalton House Hostel, and added a cinema, café, reception and office space. A nine-bed area for residents needing higher level care was also upgraded.

The redevelopment was made possible via a $4.9 million contribution from the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund. The $350 million fund is the largest of its kind in Victorian history. It is rebuilding regional and rural infrastructure to ensure Victorians can access the high-quality care and facilities they need, no matter where they live.
