New residential aged care facility in Edenhope opens its doors
A new 18-bed high care residential aged care facility at the Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital has opened its doors.
Located in western Victoria, the $6.3 million state-of-the-art redevelopment provides residents with private rooms with ensuites, enhancing their quality of care, while ensuring privacy and dignity.
The project has delivered:
- a new wing built and co-located next to the existing low care facility
- eighteen high care residential aged care beds
- private rooms with ensuites
- dementia-friendly design
- new social spaces including large common areas and a central courtyard
- residents will also enjoy newly landscaped gardens.
The redevelopment was made possible by the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.
Aged care in Victoria
Victoria has the largest public residential aged care sector in Australia. These facilities play a vital role providing care in many regional and rural communities where there are no other services.
Public residential aged care services also care for our most vulnerable older Victorians who have complex physical or mental health needs.
Funding regional health infrastructure
The $350 million Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, which includes the Aged Care Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, is the largest grant program of its kind in Victorian history. It enables rural and regional public health and residential aged care services to invest in modern infrastructure and equipment. This supports the services to continue to provide safe and efficient care to local communities.
