Public Tenant Employment Program
The Victorian Government believes all Victorians deserve to share in the benefits of our growing economy and is committed to supporting public housing tenants access employment opportunities that flow from economic development in the State.
The objective of the Public Tenant Employment Program (PTEP) is to provide opportunities for public housing tenants to gain sustainable employment.
PTEP uses two main mechanisms to deliver employment and training outcomes for public housing tenants:
- Public Tenant Employment clauses in Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) housing contracts
- Providing accredited training in skills shortage areas through partnerships with the TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations
Also VHHSBA suppliers are encouraged to give Public Tenant Employment opportunities. This may be in the same form of the DHHS housing contracts or alternatives. This is an opt in approach, which is favourably looked upon.
